Whenever our loved ones come to us and share with us about something that they are going through, we tend to give advices to them. However, most of the time, when the same thing happen to us at another time, most probably we're not going to do the same thing. So, why do we do so?

One of the reasons may be when we are advising another person, most of the time we're in a rational state. We're not affected emotionally and so we're able to see things from the rational perspectives. However, when the same thing happen to us, that's the time that we're struggling and so we're easily being affected emotionally. During that time, it would be hard for us to remember or think about what we've advised people about in the past.
